About Us
Awatere Merino knits together a rich history of multi-generational effort and sustained Merino genetics with our traceable Merino fibre. Consumers want to know they are wearing genuine New Zealand Merino - being able to trace it back to the farm is fast becoming the norm.
Located in the upper northeast of New Zealand’s stunning South Island, the Awatere Valley has ascended to pre-eminence as one the world’s best wine growing regions. Grapes are relative latecomers to Awatere’s agricultural landscape whereas Merino has featured for over 150 years.
Awatere Merino offers traceability and evolved wool-buying practices in response to the ever-changing marketplace. Our goal is working towards the future of Awatere Merino for generations to come, adding value for both the families that produce it and the families that wear it.
